fellow vets. i’m trying to help one of our own with a claim. his name is SP-4 Parris Horne. he was a plumber. he was with D Co 46 Engrs in long binh from 68-69. we are working on a claim for the VA. we need dates and times of combat stressors. such as TET-69. if any remember him or dates and times of enemy contact for D co. please forward to us at my e-mail address.

Here is the link to a shoe box full of slides that I recently found. Most of them were taken around the Saigon, Long Binh, Bien Hoa and Cam Ranh areas in 1967 and 1968. Bob, there is some humor in your comment, when you look back at it. Not at the time I would imagine. The worst I ran into at the beaches in Nha Trang, were little jelly fish. At certain times of the year there would be thousands of them and the sting was painful. Thanks for stopping by.

I was a court reporter (MOS 75E20) for the Engineer Command in Vietnam. I went to Dong Ba Thin two or three times in 1967 and 1968 to conduct a general courts-martial. I liked to swim in the little bay there on some of those real hot days. I remember the 50-caliber towers on both sides of the bay. I found out one night during evening mess that I was apparently shark-bait when I was swimming in there by myself when no one was manning the towers.

How ironic that we have the same last name and that we both experienced somewhat simular experiences. Although I don’t have any information to give you about the incident you experienced I am overwhelmed to share something with you. Like you I was looking for something and I didn’t even know it. I served 18-months in Vietnam (1969 -1970) assigned to the 25th MP Co (Stationed in Cu Chi and Tain Inh) I was part of the VIP security force for Bob Hope when his USO tour hit Cu Chi-does anyone have any photos of the Cu Chi visit. I was posted directly in front of the stage during Bob’s show as well as escort for some of his guests

Pat glad you stopped by. I also enjoyed Nha Trang. I extended my tour there for an additional 6 months. My brother was stationed in Tan Son Nhut with the Air Force in 72-73.
