Here is an update on our reunion plans. We are having our reunion for the 540th TC, 79th TC, and all the other 14th Trans Battalion units at the Radisson Hotel at Opryland in Nashville TN and here are the details:
Radisson Hotel 2401 Music Valley Drive Nashville TN 37214 Our reunion room rate is $94.00 per night plus tax For RESERVATIONS CALL: 615-889-0800 or 1-800-333-3333 and be sure to tell them you are coming for the reunion and tell them which company you were in (540th, 79th 604th, 608th, 335th, AVEL, etc.).
The core reunion days are November 7-9 2008 with a buffet dinner (roast sirloin and chicken marsala) on the evening of the 8th, the cost is $37.00 for a single and $70.00 for a couple. There will be a mixer on Friday night and a business meeting on Saturday morning. I’m working with the hotel concierge to have tours and entertainment available for those who want to see more of Nashville. The reunion room rate is good from November 4 through November 10 so you can come early and stay late to take in all of the home for Country and Western.
We have 75 rooms blocked at our special rate and 25 are taken already; so now is the time to start planning on coming to Nashville and make your reservation. I hope a lot of the 540th guys (my old outfit) get signed up and join the 79th Vets already signed up (hint). We have opened the reunion to the entire 14th Trans Battalion Vets who served with us in Vietnam, some of you with multiple tours may see old friends from other units. I am also sending snail mail invitations to the former unit commanders for those I can track down (we had four commanders in 2006 at Reno).
Finally mail your check payable to 14th Transportation Battalion AVN Vietnam Veterans for the meal costs and to join our Association the cost is $25.00 per year, again payable to 14th Trans Bn Vietnam Vets. The dues for our non-profit Association offset some of the costs and keep us going, you don’t have to join to come–you can decide that based on the value of being with us and part of us.
