Looking for some assistance

I received the following comment on my Stars & Stripes Newspaper post.  If anyone out there has a suggestion that may help, or recognizes the name, please leave a comment.

HI,  I’m looking for a little guidance.  I am the locator for a company of Vietnam Veterans.  They had the “honor” of having a Stars and Stripes reporter with them on a number of missions in Quang Tri in 1970/71. They would really like to find the man and talk to him again.

His name was Dan K. Evans.  I believe he was from upstate New York, but I’m afraid that’s all I know about him. The company was C 1-11th 5th Infantry (Mech) at that time company Commander was Captain Barry S. Buckley.

Thanks for listening, if there is any help it is frosting on the cake. My joy comes from the fact that I’ve spent close to 7 years reuniting these guys.  I lovingly call them “my grunts” and count them as my friends.

Thanks,  Jeanne Mac.

First let me say this site brought back many memories. I was with the 79th avionics in 1966. The shop in those days was a real shack but a real shop was being built in our spare time. Only remember one guy, SSG Jim Beam. Jim was killed in an auto accident shortly after his return to the states. I also served as an instructor in Ft Gordon with a past 79th member, Sfc Kamahele . I also served in Hue Phu Bia in 1970 and 71 with C Company 101st Avn Bn. I retired in 1977 to sunny Florida and have enjoyed every day of it. Again, great site and thank you for the memory update

Chuck, glad you stopped by and enjoyed your visit. We could use some of you fine Florida weather here.
